Hopefully I will come back and fill this in some more, but just wanting to get some articles started here on the new blog.
My little guy is diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and we spend a LOT of time driving to and from speech with him. We live 120 mile round trip from the nearest SLP (speech language pathologist), so that is a lot of car time. But, we’ve seen some miraculous progress thus far, so we keep it up. It will be a long haul and kiddos with CAS usually require years of intensive speech therapy. Luckily, we have case management with our insurance and they’ve been great paying for everything so far. And, one of our SLPs, waives our co-pays. This is incredibly helpful at $25 a visit when he might have up to 4 visits a week.
If you’re interested in reading more about CAS, check out CASANA. They have some great info that will explain it better than I can.
